RAQUEL PARTNOY es pintora, ensayista y poeta. Nacida en Argentina, concurrio al taller del pintor, muralista y maestro Demetrio Urruchua en
Buenos Aires. Reside en Washington, D.C. desde l994.

Su obra ha sido expuesta en 70 exposiciones individuales y en 100 muestras grupales en Argentina y en los Estados Unidos. Partnoy ha dado talleres de arte mural para adolescentes en Latin American Art Center in Washington, D.C.

Sus exhibiciones individuales en los Estados Unidos incluyen: Studio Gallery 1995; Washington Convention Center,The Women Expo 1995; DC Jewish Community Center 1996; Embassy of Argentina 1997, 2003, y 2008; Bnai Brith Klutznick National Jewish Museum 1997; Parish Gallery, Washington D.C. 1999; Goucher College, Baltimore 2001; Martin Luther King Library, Washington D.C. 2003; University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee 2005; Latino Art Museum, Pomona, CA 2006.

Partnoy ha recibido varios subsidios de la D.C. Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities y ha sido reconocida por importantes criticos de arte en Argentina y los Estados Unidos. Su obra puede encontrarte en museos y colecciones privadas en ambos paises. Ha dado conferencias invitada por universidades e instituciones sobre: Pintura social en Argentina, El arte mural en Argentina, Mujeres y Tango, y sus experiencias personales durante la dictadura militar en Argentina.

Su obra ha sido incluida en: Arte al Dia Documenta 87: La Plastica Norteamericana, Buenos Aires, Argentina; The Tribe of Dina: A Jewish Women Anthology - Irena Klepfisz & Melanie Kaye, United States; Religious Imagination and the Body: A Feminist Analysis - Paula M. Cooey, United States.

RAQUEL PARTNOY is a painter and essayist. Born in Argentina, she attended for several years the Buenos Aires workshop of painter, muralist, and teacher Demetrio Urruchua. Her first show was at Van Riel Gallery in 1965, and she continued to paint and held exhibitions at diverse venues in Buenos Aires and other cities of her country until 1994 when she moved to the United States. She settled in Washington D.C. where she continued her artistic career. Partnoy has offered mural art workshops for teenagers at the Latin American Art Center in Washington, D.C.

Her work has been shown at 70 solo exhibits and 100 group shows in her country and the United States. Her solo exhibits in the United States include: Studio Gallery  1995; Washington Convention Center  The Women Expo 1995; DC. Jewish Community Center  1996; Embassy of Argentina 1997, 2003. and 2008; Bnai Brith Klutznick National Jewish Museum 1997; Parish Gallery, Washington, D.C  1999; Goucher College, Baltimore  2001; Martin Luther King Library, Washington, D.C   2003; University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee   2005; Latino Art Museum, Pomona, CA   2006.

Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Her work has been recognized by art critics in Argentina and the United States, and can be found in museums and public and private collections in both countries. She has lectured at the invitation of universities and institutions about: Social Art of Argentina, Mural Art in Argentina, Women and Tango, and her paintings and personal experiences during the military dictatorship in her country.

Her work has been featured in books that include: Arte al Dia, Documenta 87: La Plastica Norteamericana, Buenos Aires, Argentina; The Tribe of Dina: A Jewish Women Anthology by Irena Klepfisz & Melanie Kaye, United States; Religious Imagination and the Body: A Feminist Analysis by Paula M. Cooey, United States;  CALYX- a Journal of Art and Literature by Women, Summer 2008.

Her essays Silent Witness and Surviving Genocide were published in Women Writing Resistance, Essays on Latin American and the Caribbean, Jennifer Browdy de Hernandez, ed.
