Raquel Partnoy is a painter, essayist, and poet.
Born in Argentina, she has lived in Washington
D.C. since 1994. Her work has been shown at 65 solo exhibit and more than 100 group shows in her country and the United States. Partnoy has offered mural workshops at the Latin American Youth Center in Washington D.C.
Her solo exhibits in the United States include: Studio Gallery- 1995; Washington Convention Center - "The Women's Expo" - 1995; D.C. Jewish Community Center -1996; Embassy of Argentina - 1997 and 2003; B'nai B'rith Klutznick National Jewish Museum - 1997; Parish Gallery, Washington D.C. - 1999; Goucher College - 2001; Martin Luther King Library, Washington D.C. - 2003; University of Wisconsin - 2005; Latino Art Museum, Pomona, California - 2006.
Her selected group exhibitions include: Perth Amboy Gallery Center for the Arts, New Jersey-2007; Latin Art Museum, Claremont, California-2005; Parish Galley-2003; International Visions-The Gallery-Washington DC.-2002/2003; Atelier 14, New York-2000; D.C.Jewish Community Center-2000; Women and Art in America, Representing Argentina, Organization of the American States, Washington D.C.1998; Studio Gallery, Washington D.C.1996; The George Washington Community Center Art Gallery-1995; Kentland Mansion, Gaithersburg Council for the Arts-1994.
Partnoy has received several grants from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities, and her work has been recognized by wellknown art critics in Argentina and the United States. Her work is found in museums and public and private collections in both countries.
She has lectured at the invitation of universities and institutions about: Argentina's Social Art, Mural Art in Argentina, Women and Tango, Women Artists Discrimination, and her personal experiences during the military dictatorship in her country.
Her work has been featured in books that include: Arte al Dia Documenta 87 - La Plastica Norteamericana, Buenos Aires, Argentina; The Tribu of Dina: A Jewish Women Anthology by Irena Klepfisz & Melanie Kaye, United States; Religious Imagination and the Body: A Feminist Analysis by Paula M. Cooey, United States.
Her essays "Silent Witness" and "Surviving Genocide," including her paintings, were published in Women Writing Resistance-Essays on Latin American and the Caribbean, Jennifer Browdy de Hernandez, ed. South End Press, 2004, and The Jewish Diaspora in Latin American and the Caribbean: Fragments of Memory, Kristin Ruggero, ed. Sussex Academic Press, UK, 2005.

RAQUEL PARTNOY es pintora, ensayista y poeta. Nacida en
Argentina, ha vivido en Washington, D.C. desde l994. Su obra ha sido expuesta en 65 exposiciones individuales y en más de 100 muestras grupales en su país y en los Estados Unidos. Partnoy ha dado talleres de arte mural para adolescentes en Latin American Art Center in Washington, D.C.
